When flash floods gather and gush against bare
rock, the erosive power scours channels, ever widening to become canyons. Cracks
and soft sections in the rock allow rushing water to cut more quickly down.
Sometimes the channel cuts narrow passages, seemingly wide enough for only the
water. Such narrow passages tempt the adventurous into the slot where light
enters from high above to create wonderful blends of tone and color in a gentle
glow. My slot canyon images originate from Antelope or Corkscrew Canyon in
Arizona; Wire Pass, Little Wildhorse, Leprechaun, Peek-a-Boo, Spooky, Dry Fork
of Coyote Gulch Upper & Lower Narrows, Utah.
