NEW! Slot
Canyon Light Canyonlands (Workshop #108)
Of all the
landforms within the Colorado Plateau canyon country, Slot
Canyons represent some of the most divers and unique.
Hundreds of these narrow passages virtually hide in out of the
way niches between the obvious places. Some are remarkably
accessible while others pose the greatest possible challenge to
technically skilled and equipped canyoneers.
Join Marv Poulson in middle
Spring time
(May 25, 26, 27) in Escalante-Grand Staircase National
Monument, Utah, for a magical canyon experience.
Located in the
heart of Utah's fantastic canyon country, we will use the small
town of Escalante as our base for three days of photographic
exploration. A variety of accommodations and full service
restaurants are available in town.

Rocky Mountain Wildflowers (Workshop #208)
The Rocky Mountains form a
rugged, high altitude barrier from New Mexico through Western
Canada. Many beautiful and unique habitats in this great
mountain range serve a wide variety of wildflowers. On the
central western flank of this great mountain range the high
Wasatch Range gathers a great variety of wildflower species in a
locality of alpine splendor. Excellently accessible, the canyons
of the central Wasatch offer superb opportunities for
photographing expansive wildflower meadows, open flower covered
mountain sides, intimate stream banks and craggy scree rock
gardens.
We will be able to photograph many varieties of Columbine,
Lupine, Daisies, Saxifrage, Stonecrop, Paintbrush, owl clover
and much, much more. Among the summer flowering varieties that
favor spring fed meadows and stream banks is the richly colored
Parry Primrose (Primula parryi). This beautiful perennial blooms
from early to late summer in moist alpine meadows and along
shaded stream banks where Saxifraga and Columbine may also be
found.
Join Marv Poulson in early summer (July 25, 26, & 27) to
delve into part of this area for a visual treat and memorable
vacation-style workshop for great wildflower photography in some
of Americas grandest natural mountain gardens.

Light Play and Slot Canyon Shadow
(Workshop #308)
Autumn in the canyon country of
the Colorado Plateau brings stunning seasonal color to the red
rock wilderness. Here in the heart of the Escalante
Canyons country, many slot
Canyons present some of the most divers and unique photographic
opportunities for light play on elegantly eroded sandstone.
Hundreds of these narrow passages virtually hide in out of the
way niches between the obvious places. Some are remarkably
accessible while others pose the greatest possible challenge to
technically skilled and equipped canyoneers. We will seek
some with reasonable access and splendid variety as well as
adjacent areas with perennial stream flow over bedrock and water
falls.
Join Marv Poulson in middle
early Autumn
(October 5, 6, 7) in Escalante-Grand Staircase National
Monument, Utah, for a magical canyon experience.
Located in the
heart of Utah's fantastic canyon country, we will use the small
town of Escalante as our base for three days of photographic
exploration. A variety of accommodations and full service

NEW! Light
and Reflections in Oak Creek Canyon (Workshop #408)
At the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau
Oak Creek cuts a deep canyon complex of astonishing beauty and
uniqueness at any season. Oak Creek Canyon offers
delightful passage nearly any time of year, I prefer mid autumn
when deciduous trees come into seasonal color. The added
contrast and play of light with more tonal variation makes for
some dazzling photographic opportunities. This special canyon
holds long pools of clear water flowing gently over slick rock
and beneath arched sandstone over hangs that create wonderful
shadows and reflections.
Join Marv Poulson (October
5, 6, 7) to delve into part of
this area for a visual treat and memorable vacation-style
workshop. Located in the
heart of Arizona's fantastic canyon country, we will use the small
town of Sedona as our base for three days of photographic
exploration. A variety of accommodations and full service
restaurants are available in town.
Another photogenic aspect of the
stream in this sheltered canyon results from the many places
where water flows over or against bed rock. So much exposed
geology lends to some very inspiring photography where thin
films flow in the reflected light of sky and the glow from the
far red cliff faces. It is as though reflections live and evolve
in the water here. Every moment, each time I come to Oak Creek,
light-play creates images I have never seen. Even revisiting the
same spot, from the same view, what I see is new.

Canyon Country Autumn Color (Workshop #508)
There is nothing like the colors of Autumn in
Zion Canyon! The strong colors of the towing cliffs and canyon
walls work wondrously with the intense tones of colorful leaves
on the trees or floating in desert springs or in the beautiful
Virgin River. Mid-Autumn here offers unmatched color
variety and wonderful light and shadow play through out the day.
Photographic opportunities abound in myriad settings.
Join Marv Poulson (November 2, 3, 4), for a magical
Autumn experience. We will use early light for magical
reflection studies on calm clear pools and dappled light for
layering color among the shadows. The river and deep
canyons with boggleingly high cliffs will inspire and challenge
as backgrounds for vivid Autumn color play.
Located in the Southwest corner of Utah, Zion
Canyon opens north of the cozy town of Springdale. A variety of
accommodations and full service restaurants are available in
town. Our days in Zion Canyon will be filled with spectacular
scenery at a time of year when nature enhances the vividly
colored canyon walls with bright Autumn tones.
